Summary
  • BSc (Hons) Ship and Port Management is ideal if you who wish to follow a career in ship or port operations and management, or in the related fields of logistics, freight forwarding, port agency, cargo handling or marine supplies. There is a demand for graduates with knowledge and operational skills to manage the world’s ships and ports.
  • Duration: Either 3 or 4 years with work placement.
  • Entry requirements: 12th Class (10 plus 2) with good grades for 1st year entry. Good grades at either Diploma or Advanced diploma / HND in a related subject for 2 or 3 year entry.
  • Fees: £8,600 per year for international students and £3290 for students from EU and UK.
  • Scholarship: £ 1,000 scholarship available to a limited number of full time international students from Bangladesh, Caribbean, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tanzania and Thailand.
Programme The international shipping industry comprises nearly 50,000 ships and hundreds of ports worldwide. In addition, there is a large international marine services sector that provides support in the form of finance, law, insurance, ship broking, agency and management. Employers in all these sectors require motivated graduates with extensive knowledge and problem-solving skills. Southampton, with its thriving port and maritime business community is the ideal location to study a maritime course.

Professional Accreditation - The BSc (Hons) Ship and Port Management of Southampton Solent University  is validated by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and supported by an industry liaison panel drawn from maritime and shipping businesses in Southampton and London.

Industrial Placement - An optional Industrial Placement Year is available for this course.
